Making Love Last

God showed me a revelation last week about relationships. It happened during an ordinary trip to work on the train.

I walked the isles of the train, looking for an open seat.
I chose one at the end of the compartment
Which happened to face the majority of the other passengers.

There was a lady directly in front of me, not more than 3 feet.
I looked in her direction to offer a courtesy smile or a "good morning"
Yet she continued to look out the window and never in my direction.

There were many faces on the train
No more than usual.
Some chose to talk with others
While some slept
And others sat quietly.

As I sat thinking of the tasks ahead of me for the day
I looked about 4 seats in front of me and saw a face.
It was of a muslim lady
Robed in her customary attire.

I offered a smile
Which she returned.

The train continued its journey
And upon our arrival
I rose and entered the isle to depart.
Directly in front of me was the muslim lady.

As we slowly walked towards the train's doors
I saw several passengers still in their seats.
I thought that I would allow them to enter the isle
In front of me as a courtesy.

Then I noticed the muslim lady was extending this courtesy herself
Along with a small smile.
The passengers thanked her to which she replied "your welcome."

I thought of the differences we must have
In our beliefs and what her day would be.
Was she going to work
Or maybe to stores to shop
Or maybe she was going home.

As we stepped off the train onto the platform
The sea of passengers began to fill the corridors.
Everyone on their way to their own personal destinations
For their own private purposes.

I looked and saw the muslim lady
Disappearing into the crowds
Completely.

What once was a personal interaction
Was now lost in the sea of people
And in the sea of things around us.

THIS IS WHAT GOD SHOWED ME THROUGH THIS SEEMINGLY MEANINGLESS ENCOUNTER....

WE HAVE TO PURPOSELY DO THINGS TO MAINTAIN OUR CLOSENESS
OTHERWISE WHAT WE ONCE HAD WILL NO LONGER EXIST.
THINGS IN OUR LIVES CAN CREATE DISTANCE
AND IF WE DON'T DO WHAT IT TAKES TO MAINTAIN OUR CLOSENESS,
JUST LIKE THE LADY IN THE CROWD,
WE WILL LOSE THE INTIMACY AND CONNECTION THAT WE HAVE
INTO THE SEA OF THINGS AROUND US.

THIS SEA MAY BE THE PROBLEMS IN OUR FAMILY OR RELATIONSHIPS,
THE TASKS ON OUR JOBS, OUR MINISTRY, OUR HOMES, OUR LIVES.
THE SEA CAN BRING THINGS THAT DISTRACT US AND PULL US AWAY FROM BEING WITH EACH OTHER, REALLY BEING WITH EACH...NOT JUST SPENDING TIME
BUT FOCUSING ON WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE US ONE...
FOCUSING ON BUILDING A TRUST AND FOUNDATION THAT WITHSTANDS THE TEST AND PROBLEMS.

CONQUER THE SEAS AND NEVER LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON YOUR ANGER (EPHESIANS 4:26).

Choose Ye This Day

Now Is The Time...Choose Today!

There is no time like the present to make a decision to change the very course of your life!

Was your 2008 all you hoped it would be?  Every thing you wanted and more?  What gains were made?  What goals were achieved?  What decisions or choices did you make that improved your finances, your family, your health, your walk with God?

Now Is The Time...Choose Today!

Take an honest evaluation of yourself and where you are.  Are you where you want to be?

I am not talking about a New Year's resolution which typically is treated like a new item that you were once excited about but soon lost its luster and appeal, finding its way to the back of your closet, cabinet or tool drawer.

I am talking about a real and personal dedication and investment in YOU!  Take the time to access your life...spiritually, your health, family, finances, education, etc.  Don't be discouraged if you seem too far away from where you want or need to be.  Remember, there is always room for improvement and growth and with God's help, nothing is impossible!

Now Is The Time...Choose Today!

Dust off your dreams, brush the cobwebs off your goals, light a fire under your feet AND DO IT NOW!

What goals have you set that you have let lay dormant?  What things have gone undone?  What things do you need to focus on, achieve or activate today to improve your tomorrow?  Perhaps it is simply a phone call, perhaps it's a degree, perhaps it is praying more.  Whatever it is, NOW IS THE TIME.

Choose Today...And Choose Wisely!!

Your Choices Today Will Shape Your Tomorrow!!

Today Matters!

There is no time like the present to fulfill whatever is within you.

YES! Your God-given and God-inspired purpose.

There is a gift, a dream and/or an aspiration living inside each of of us. Yet, for whatever reason, there is always more that we can do to ensure our vision becomes as much of a reality as the things we see, taste, touch, hear, smell or feel on a daily basis.

Don't let the challenges--you know the things that present themselves as obstacles--deter you from your pursuits and your ultimate success!! Whether the issue is lack of loving support, inadequate finances or fear, know that the power of God that resides in each of His children is greater than anything we will ever face!

Your purpose may be different than mine and vice versa...but no God-given purpose is any greater than another.

Fatherhood?

Motherhood?

Starting A Business?

Writing A Book?

Earning A Degree?

Improving Yourself?

Whatever the goal, whatever the purpose, begin today and make it count. There is always a decision, an action or a choice we can make today that will make our dream more of a reality tomorrow.

Encourage yourself and know that God is there to guide if we allow Him to.

So spend the valuable resource of your time wisely by investing in a relationship with God and what He has given you to do.

Today Matters! So Why Not Start Now??!!!!

Tis' The Season Every Day

Tis' the season to think about all the people in our lives that are important and special.

It begins around Thanksgiving when most people usually find reasons to remember to be grateful.  Then comes Christmas and the "list" which holds the names of individuals worth surfing the net or bravely facing the mall crowds for.

And then what?  January, February, March....and so on.  What happens now?!

Was part of our New Year's promise a commitment to have better or stronger relationships with our family, friends...or maybe even with ourselves?!

Isn't every day a good day to celebrate the people we are grateful for in November and those who are "gift worthy" in December?

So start today and then every day to let those who we love (and like) know just how much we do!  All it may take is a phone call, text message, hug, kiss, etc., etc., etc.

So Tis' The Season...every day!!!

Living Worry-Free

The abundant life available to Christians is one which includes freedom from worries.  I know to some, even to some Christians, this statement seems unrealistic.  Afterall, we do live in a world where tragedy, death and problems exist on a daily basis.  Christ, however, has encouraged us to be brave because He has overcome this world (St. John 16:33) and has equipped us to do the same!

Christ is our example in all things even living a life of no worries.  His lifestyle and faith in His Father, God, is a true testament to how we as Believers should live our daily lives.  The Bibles tells us of how Christ Himself struggled with human emotions and feelings, or elevating God's will above His own.  Recall with me the moment before Jesus was taken into custody in the Garden of Gethsemane.  He knew the time was close for His crucifixation--the painful and humilating death on the cross for sins He never committed.  Yet instead of "escaping" from the pain ahead, He sought God's strength through prayer, submitting and humbling Himself to die so the world could have access to eternal life with God.

What an awesome example this is!  In the face of trial and pain, Christ was able to rely and turn to our Heavenly Father for strength.

God never told us that life would be without problems but He did tell us we are not just survivors but more than conquerors (Romans 8:35-37) and powerful because Christ, through the Holy Spirit, lives inside us (I John 4:4; Philippians 4:13; Luke 10:19).

Know that worry is merely a branch off the tree of fear, which is rooted in lack of faith.  The Bible informs us that fear is not from God (I Timothy 1:7).  Actually, God has equipped us to win every battle so there is no need to fear!

So the next time you are tempted to worry (fear), remember Christ's example and trust God for the answers and the victory!

In His Name,

Evangelist Kassandra McGhee
